Graduates celebrate success with tribute to Lebanese Army at MUBS 13th Graduation Ceremony

 

The MUBS Graduation Ceremony at UNESCO Palace, Beirut, was attended by the representative of the Prime Minister Dr. Dawood Al Sayegh, Lord Alex Carlile, CBE QC, Professor Mohammed Lutfi, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International), Cardiff Met University, as well as members of the University's Board of Trustees.

 

Mr. Jihad Al-Atrash presented the Ceremony which Dr. Hatem Alami, MUBS Chairman of the Board of Trustees, opened with a speech confirming the efforts of the University in providing the best to its students and the Lebanese community. The Chairman highlighted MUBS’ partnerships and joint projects with various European and American universities. In partnership with Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK, MUBS’ programs harvest positive results, and, most recently, two new joint programs were launched:  MSc. Master of Science in Sport Management and Leadership, in association with Cardiff Met University and the Beirut Marathon, and the MSc. in International Hospitality and Tourism Management, a program previously launched under the auspices of Prime Minister Saad Hariri.

In Professor Mohammed Lutfi highlighted the importance of the partnership between MUBS and Cardiff Met University. This partnership is exemplified by the joint programs that grant students Lebanese and British degrees, as well as the Quality Assurance Program of Educational Systems from Cardiff Met University under the Global Partnership framework. Professor Lutfi stressed the importance of student programs and staff exchange between the two partner institutions, vital to ensuring high quality education for both Lebanese and British students. He also pointed out that Cardiff Met University has achieved an advanced position in terms of services provided to foreign students in addition to scoring high employment rates among graduates.

Lord Carlile, urged graduates to be distinguished citizens of the world and to enjoy all what life has to offer. He also noted that the graduates should be proud to be graduates of the joint programs between the Modern University for Business and Science and the University of Cardiff Met.

Dr. Daoud Al Sayegh, representative of the Prime Minister, highlighted the importance of redirecting students to the most needed technical fields of specialization to meet the requirements of the labor market.

Mr. Ghassan Al-Aridi, CEO of Alpha Destination Management and the Chairman of Paramount Hotels & Resorts, joined the MUBS Board of Trustees on stage at the ceremony to applaud the MUBS graduates who celebrated their success  by hurling army caps up into the air, as well as their traditional graduation caps: a noble gesture to  pay tribute to the Lebanese Army.

 

The proud graduates were awarded their degree certificates from Prof. Lutfi, Dr. Daoud Al Sayegh, Anna Ridge, Vice Consul of the British Embassy in Lebanon, and Dr. Hatem Alami to a fanfare of applause by families and friends, as well as a host of prominent religious, military and social figures.
