Unleashing Innovation: MUBS Research Department Hosts Research Science Day

The Research Department at MUBS organized the first Research Science Day for both faculty researchers and students at the Damour campus as part of its research activities.

 

Dr. Hatem Alamy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at MUBS, spoke in his keynote address about the importance of scientific research in the development of higher education in Lebanon, highlighting MUBS' pioneering role in several international research partnerships in Lebanon. MUBS has been distinguished for its role in promoting public wellness in Lebanon through its community-based participatory research strategy (2021-2025) in collaboration with the National Wellness Network (NWN).

 

Dr. Wissam Ghach, Chairperson of the Research Department at MUBS, started the event by introducing the day and discussing the development of research work at MUBS in a well-defined strategic plan that aims for excellence in research ventures at both the national and international levels.

The primary goal of this day was to bring together MUBS researchers and students, as well as to find common ground for research professionals to launch several initiatives and research proposals. Thirteen projects from various research areas were discussed in the presence of MUBS faculty, students, alumni, and local and international collaborators.

Ms. Samantha Abi Saab, Research Associate at MUBS, presented the new VE project "The Causes and Remedies for Marginalization and Under-representation in Global Virtual Exchange Initiatives: A Comprehensive Survey of Stakeholders in Five Geopolitical Sectors."

 

Dr. Laurent Yacoub, Chairperson of the Marketing and Management Department at MUBS, presented his research project titled "Work-Life Balance and Job Satisfaction among Lebanese and Non-Lebanese Teachers in Private and Public Schools."

Dr. Khaleel Mershad, Chairperson of the Department of Computer Science at MUBS, introduced his research project "DIAMOND: A Tool for Tracking Student Participation in Online Lectures."

Dr. Hussein Hazimeh, School of Computer and Applied Sciences faculty member at MUBS, presented his research project "Reduce++: Unsupervised Content-Based Approach for Duplicate Result Detection in Search Engines."

Dr. Chadia Haddad, School of Health Sciences faculty member at MUBS, introduced her research project "A Cross-Sectional Study of COVID-19-Related Bullying in a Sample of Lebanese Adults: Scale Validation, Correlates, and the Mediating Effect of Fear and Anxiety."

Faculty members from the School of Education and Social Work, Ms. Samar Bou Zeineddine and Ms. Sara Abou Ibrahim presented their joint project "Gamification Impacts on Reading and Comprehension Skills of Elementary Children."

Dr. Ranin Beshara, School of Health Sciences faculty member at MUBS, presented her research project "Influenza type a virus infection Alters FLT3-L-dependent de novo generation of conventional dendritic cells, contributing to bacterial superinfection."

Dr. Nabil Abdoun, School of Computer and Applied Sciences faculty member at MUBS, introduced his research project "Automatic Text Classification of PDF Documents Using NLP Techniques."

Mr. Imad Wazni, International School of Business faculty member at MUBS, presented his research project "Assessing the Costs and Benefits of Adopting Green Practices on the Bottom Line in the Lebanese Foodservice Industry: Owners' Perspectives."

Ms. Maysoun Al Ghareeb, an undergraduate student in the School of Education and Social Work at MUBS, introduced her research project titled "Best Practices for Civics Education in Elementary Level."

Ms. Rola Abou Ghaida, an undergraduate student in the Computer and Applied Sciences at MUBS, presented her research project "A Virtual Learning Assistant for Enhancing Students' Learning Experiences."

Ms. Ranin Abou Hjeyli, an undergraduate student in the School of Education and Social Work at MUBS, presented her research project titled "The Role of the Social Worker with Abused Children during the Corona Pandemic."

Ms. Nermeen Bou Ghannam, an undergraduate student in the School of Health Sciences at MUBS, presented her research project titled "Misconceptions and Misuse of Personal-Household Disinfectants during the Spread of COVID-19 in Lebanon."

The research day is in line with the University's commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
