Chair of Nursing



The Modern University for Business and Science invites applications from a full-time faculty for a Chair of Nursing position in the School of Health Sciences.



The Department Chair will work to fulfill the following responsibilities:

  • To oversee the Department.
  • To act as the representative of the Department to MUBS’s administration and outside constituencies.
  • To act as an advocate for the mission of the Department to the administration and outside constituencies.
  • To act as a mentor and facilitator for the faculty and staff within the Department as they carry out their mission.
  • To act as an administrator of the Department in accomplishing necessary managerial tasks.


The above responsibilities imply the following duties:

- Developing and articulating departmental goals

- Facilitating the academic programs of the Department

- Promoting the academic quality of the Department and discipline by developing the curriculum, policies, and laboratory facilities

- Conducting searches for faculty positions (full-time, part-time) and assessing the needs of the Department

- Monitoring and evaluating faculty in coordination with the Dean

- Managing specialized facilities (labs, technical equipment, instruments, etc.)

- Encouraging faculty professional development via workshops, training sessions, conferences, faculty exchange, etc.

- Ensuring that faculty in the Department are fully engaged in departmental and general faculty duties


- Managing the departmental assessment process, conducting periodic departmental reviews, recommending faculty appraisal

- Managing external grants, special programs, and development projects in coordination with the Dean and the Research Office

- Establishing and maintaining educational and training partnerships with universities, hospitals, and job markets for the benefit of our students and to ensure that they are placed in reputable organizations for their practicums and internships (MOUs with hospitals, medical centers, diet centers, NGOs, etc.)

- Supervising new student recruitment and retention of majors




  • A holder of MSN or PhD in Nursing
  • Experience as a clinical and academic leader
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and time management skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively and make positive contributions as a team member
  • Demonstrated record of involvement in research projects and funding
  • Committed and dedicated to student success
