The Optometry and Vision Science Department at the Modern University for Business and Science (MUBS), in coordination with the Syndicate of Opticians and Optometrists in Lebanon, launched its exclusive Optometry Bridging Program on November 3, 2017 at the University’s Spears campus. The event was presided by the President of the Syndicate of Opticians and Optometrists Mr. Ahmed Cherri, the Vice President of the Syndicate Mr. George Hawat, the President of World Sight Association (WSA) Dr. Lina Iskandar Hawat, the Vice President of WSA Mrs. Rana Younes Awada, the General Manager of the Eastern Mediterranean Council of Optometry (EMCO) Mr. Hassan Awada, the Dean of the School of Health Sciences at MUBS Dr. Nisreen Alwan, and the Acting Chair of the Optometry and Vision Science Department at MUBS Mr. Ahmed Sherry.

The event gathered optometrists from all over Lebanon for a two-hour session where Mr. Sherry presented the Program designed for optometrists who currently hold a technical diploma in Optometry and are aiming to earn a BSc. Degree in Optometry and Vision Science. The Program’s curriculum has been reviewed by an academic committee from MUBS the Syndicate of Opticians and Optometrists and EMCO, and is approved and licensed by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Lebanon. Enrolling into this program will upgrade the academic status and career development of eye care professionals, nationally and internationally. The Admissions Office is currently accepting applicants interested in this program to be offered at all MUBS campuses.
